Tiger barbs or bala sharks w/ clowns?

Yet another compatibility question. I am in the process of setting up a 135 gal. planted tank to relocate the occupants of a 45 gal. (4 4"oscars, 1 royal pleco, and 1 pictus cat). I have decided to center the tank around 6 or so clown loaches, not yet acquired, and am looking for good schooling fish for "dither" effect. Right now, I am considering either tiger barbs (6 or so) or bala sharks. I have read of many people keeping tiger barbs with clowns, but I worry about their tendency as fin nippers, especially in regards to my pleco. I don't really know much about bala sharks except that they are considered good community fish, get fairly large (ie, too big for oscar snacks)and school. Does anyone have opinions/experiences regarding either of thes
