What are Polka- dot Loaches???!!!

My lfs recently started carrying a wide variety of loaches, including a small one inch fish they call a polka-dot loach. It resembles the pictures of a panther loach in the species index, but the blotches on the tail end are a lot more regularly shaped (well, like polka dots). The employee said that they can't identify the species because their ordering is done in bulk-they order 100 loaches at a time, for instance-but get a variety and have to try to sort them out once they reach the shop. Does anyone have any info. on panther loaches? Maybe I should get a few and see what they look like in a month? Any thoughts would be welcomed!

Juli
