There's a large difference personality wise between yo-yo's and striata, striata being very non-agressive, rather passive in comparison to the yo-yo's.

Personally I'd get the 6' tank and get the little guy some friends, perhaps 4 more to make them comfortable... :)

However, I don't know if your lone striata will get along with the existing yo-yo population well or not; after your 3 week quarantine, I'd introduce him to the existing tank, and watch carefully from a distance to see if there is any major bullying or fin nipping (wouldn't want to put the striata to any undue stress).
