Feeding Cucumbers to clowns

I fed my 4 clowns cucumbers for the first time last night after reading various discussions here. They seem to eat the seeds and center of the cuc first. I woke up this morning and there was still a small piece left. I know you should remove any uneaten food, but I was wondering if it is ok to leave leftover cucumbers there in case the pleco gets hungry.

Also, I removed the skin of the cucumber and cut it in half. I then used a rubber band to attach a piece to a small rock and watched the festivities. Is this how most of you feed your loaches? How much should I give them and how frequently? Thanks in advance.
