Thank you, Alistair, for the lengthy reply. That was the most thorough explaination I have been able to find. I admit, we haven't bothered to check our water hardness. It hadn't seemed important until now since all other paramaters seem to be where they should for our various tanks. What is bothering me so much about this tank in particular, is it is the only one that has risen instead of settling below neutral. I did test with the high end PH test we reserve for our reef and it still read in at 7.6, so at least it wasn't too high.

Part of my concern is that some of the future inhabitants of this tank are in another tank at the moment where the PH holds at about 6.7. We didn't expect that one tank would differ so much from 5 others.

I am currently looking for the cause of the difference. So far my only thought is there might be too much carbon used in that tank.
