Where to begin...

The bio-wheels have been on since we started the tank a month ago. The tank has a wood hood with an open back (4" high by 6' long) and the bio-wheels do have a hinged cover. The Fluval and peat were added on Wednesday.

I finally got to speak to one of our preferred LFS owners and his opinion is that the higher (than our established FW tanks) PH is due to the newness of the tank and the sparse fish load for the tank size. He also confirmed that the tank's PH is not THAT high and should be fine for the fish we want to keep there. In other words, I have been over-reacting.

I am feeling rather foolish now. Our other tanks have been so easy ::knocks wood::, including the reef ::knocks harder::, so I guess I was just looking for problems to fret over. I really appreciate all the information you folks have posted, though. I now have a much better, indepth understanding of how different aspects of tank chemistry fit together. For now, I think I will just grit my teeth over the PH on that tank and hope it settles like the others have.

Thank you, again,

Mercy
