Hello

Biowheels evaporate more water than other forms of filtration. Not a bad thing, really, just what happens.

Over time, since what is evaporating is pure water, the water that is left behind in the tank has a higher concentration of minerals in the tank. As an extreme example, if half the tank evaporated, then the water left in the tank would have twice the GH and KH than what the tank started at, and a *much* higher pH, due to the higher KH.
