Clown Loach

I went to a fish store today and because of their recommendation, to control snails, I purchased a Clown Loach. Since I have brought him home, I have been reading up about them. Everywhere that I have read suggests that Clown Loaches should be sold in pairs. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is, why didn't the store suggest it to me? If I should get another one, will I have too many fish in my tank? I have a 30 gallon tank with: One large and two baby angels, two large gormies,5 black skirted tetras, 3 bleeding heart tetras, and alge eater and the one clown fish? Please let me know! Thank you! Cate
