Hi Rebeka (?),

neo. ocellatus come from the hard alkaline waters of lake Tanganiyka (I always spell that wrong). They live and breed in shells as you pointed out but they will not thrive in water that is even slightly acid. Have you got them in a different tank to your tetras? I hope so otherwise your $12 a fish investment won't last very long... I used to keep/breed these a few years ago, a trio lived quite happily with a trio of juli. transcriptus in a 24" tank.
