Re: different algae types

G'morning (or afternoon, as the case may be)!
My 70 (cichlid)and 30 gallon (loach)tanks both have the usual green algae growth that the plecos love to nibble. I have noticed recently, though, that the surfaces of everything in the tanks (filter tubes, airline, clay pots, etc.) are getting a coating of some type of brown algae. This patchy stuff looks very unattractive and is multiplying at an astounding rate. Furthermore, it seems the plecos want nothing to do with it. Does anyone have ideas about controlling this without damaging the other live plants? Is there another type of algae eater that isn't particular about the color of algae that it eats? (ha-ha)
