I suppose that one does not always have to be able to know which fish is which in order to ascribe names.....in all likelihood they will never answer anyway! I named my largest modesta Tank because of his 'relentless pursuit' of fish and food. As far as the other two go-- who knows??? They are the sidekicks. Deserving of names, I suppose, although their personalities (read: genetic instincts)don't bring anything to mind.

I've never had clowns, but I sense your frustration with changing colors. I have three yo-yo loaches in my 30 gallon that do pretty much the same thing- a while ago I posted about one having a pattern that reads VOLVO instead of YOYO (please no car jokes-I drive a Chevy). Well darn if the fish didn't read those posts and decide to change back! My hubby thinks I dreamed it or something and insists that all three fish look identical! (of course, he thinks that my modestas look identical to rainbow sharks, too!) Not a reliable source, is what I'm saying. SO, I am left to wonder if color patterns change on most loaches due to growth, stress, or dominance- or if in fact it's a combination of many factors.
