In Response To: silicate's? (Michelle)

Hi,

I'm no chemist, and I'm sure there are people with better answers out there, but I always equate silicates = glass = sand. Could be wrong, but silicates for me mean 'inert'. As for algae, mainly this is due to overfeeding :)

That of course is the short answer, the more involved is to be found on www.aquariacentral.com under algae. Usually though, if you have no plants, try cutting down on the fishes' food.
