Help! Sick Ghost!!!

Please help me. I just purchased a Black Ghost and shortly after getting him home, his tail looked like it was injured, Now, he has a white patch going up about 1 to 1 1/2" from his tail. I think it is a fungus. Iam just getting back "in to" fish after about a fifteen year break. What do I need to treat this fungus? Any ideas? Your prompt reply would be greatly appreciatted!! I DO NoT want to lose him!!!! Thank-you in advance for your help!
