Me ol' hubby is a glazier. He says as long as you don't put direct pressure on either side of a scratch line, you shouldn't have any problems.

As an aside, you know the story about the shoemaker's children not having shoes? Well, he's been carrying the measurements for glass tops for three of my tanks around with him for months. One of these days I'm going to just give up, go out and buy them from a glass shop, and then he'll freak out because I spent money on something he claims he could give me for free. Ya just can't win.
