Loss of color in clowns

This morning my Clown loaches all three where lay at the bottom Of my tank and their black strips where gray. Nothing in the tank had been changed. No new fish has been added, all in the tank get alone fine. The clowns have only been in the tank for two to three weeks and seemed to take to their new environment with out much stress and in a day had their colorer back.

When I came home this afternoon they where swiming the bottom looking for snails and had their color back. Is this normal for them to lose there color and then in a few hours have it back? So far I've seen no signs of ick.but am keep an eye out for it. hope ya'll can help. Phil
