Loach communities

I've been experimenting with adding loaches to my African lake Cichlid communities. I have been very surprised how the loaches have been such active, vigorous, social animals. In groups of loaches, is it better to have more than one of a particular species (3 to 5, or in a "pair", will one pick too much on the other?) to keep them happiest, or is a group of similar active loaches sufficient? I've got a couple of what the loach list calls Botia supercilius(?). Also, an unknown cute elongatate loach that was shipped with b.supercilius(?), maybe Leptobotia with sort of kuhli-like bands on a yellowish-pinkish body. Plus a "yo-yo loach" with very dark, distinct bands, a skinny "queen botia" the mildest of the bunch, and a cute thin bodied little grey loach with many small bands that does not look like any of the post
