Butterfly Sucker Loaches

Do these plecostomus-like loaches EVER do well in captivity, let alone survive for years? Has anybody seen them be an effective algae-eater? They seem to be always stressed out, probably from a need for a high oxygen content, but a cannot even tell if the one I have eats! I'm wondering if anyone has ever had any luck with this funny loach, since it is written that most of these probably do not survive for long.
