Thanks for the information you gave.
Regarding colouration, clowns have a pecking order and according to their position in that order, colouration can 'wash out'. Also the distribution of clowns in the wild is pretty wide-spread, which again can cause a variation in their colours and it's depth. Personally, unless they act really sick, I would say that colouration in a botia is nothing much to worry about. Feeding live and frozen food in addition to flake can help, but is not essential.
