Sand - very cloudy water

I recently added sand to my emplty 90 gallon tank. I should have gotten playground sand but decided to go with the much darker multipurpose sand wich seems to be very dirty. Anyways when I tried to clean the sand a little (didnt helo much) and now when I added it to my aquarium and added water the whole thing is extremly cloudy! I mean i cant see 1cm in! I was wondering if this could possibly go away with a filter (havent bought it yet). also I was thinking of doing very large water changes to get rid of some of the cloudyness, but kind of hard with a bath room far away and having to move 90 gallons in 5 gallon buckets!
