Strange acting loaches

My 2 Clown Loaches have been healthy acting, happy acting until this evening after feeding. They seemed to lock mouths and stay that way for some time. Upon breaking away, got side by side vertically and then locked mouths again. Then they would break away and dive into one of their caves for a few seconds and the "mouth locking" would begin all over again. At first we thought that they were fighting, but they were not. Are they trying to breed? Is there anything that we should do for them? Should they be moved to a tank by themselves? After turning out the aquarium light and the lights in the room, all seems quiet. These guys are in a very peaceful community tank of 29 gallons. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
