Found my loach, but I need help!

I finally found my hillstream loach when I went to clean up the power filter in my aquarium. He was in the box part that hangs in back. I don't think he went through the motor since the intake has a kind of plastic mesh on it, and there's no way for it to have fit through the tiny openings. (I think he swam up the flow of water to get in there.) But, it looks like he's missing a bunch of skin off of his back and part of his dorsal fin. He's been in there for several days. Needless to say, I'm overjoyed to have found him, but now I'm afraid he'll get sick and die. What should I do to help him heal? Thanks in advance! NicoleW.
