Help for a cool water tank?

Hello!

I am setting up a cooler water tank. It has a high O2 content and rapidly flowing water, although nothing as fancy as Martin's river tank. I plan to keep it at less than 74f and slightly acidic for weather loaches, gasteromyzon and so forth. I used start-up water conditioners and have temporarily stuck a small clump of plants and two guppies in the tank to further enhance cycling. The tank is going on 2 weeks old.

Questions: I haven't seen much that talked about plants in this type tank. Are any recommended? Discouraged? Also, what kind of middle or upper strata fish are recommended?
