Safe food?

Question?
One of my buddies has a couple little aquariums. He feed his fish some live worms a couple of weeks ago. About several hours later he had a small ich infestation in his largest tank (the only one he fed worms to). Well, we treated it and he only lost one of his mollies. I think the fact that we started treatement so quickly helped a whole lot also. But anyways, I was thinking that the worms he bought from who knows where could have been the courier of the parasite. Anyone else had similar events happen to them, such as a ich infestation after the feeding of live foods, or eathworms to be specific?
