Yep, I've seen mine do that as well. The silly fellow sat there for, oh, about fifteen minutes moving gravel piece by piece, then decided that whatever it was he was doing wouldn't work and off he went to play "land on top of a friend" (that's Loach Rule #2 in action: "Never land on clear space if there's another loach around to land on, he won't mind, really".
