Clown Loach Tank Size

I am going to get a larger talk when my clown gets bigger. i have seen the dimentions of tanks and there are 20 and 30 gallon tanks witht he same length and width but just the 30 is taller. Does the hight of a tank make any difference to a clown. I think it is just the bottom surface area.
