Hi, Matt:
There is a lot reason for it. Is the corydoras eating well before? One thing which happens to me quite a few times is that the female of peppered corydoras can die quite easily. They ate well and dead all the sudden. The female of this species tends to be much bigger than the male. Also, they looks like that they have dropsy without the fins standing up. I may be wrong but I suspect that there may be something to do with the female carrying eggs. What is your dead peppered corydoras look like? Also, did you check the water parameters for abnormal high ammonia and fluctuation of pH, etc.?
