Hyper clowns

Happy holidays to everyone!

I just got my first clown loaches two days ago and put hem in a 55gal. tank by themselves. The problem is they are always hiding, and when they are not hiding, when I enter the room they go nuts and start slamming back and forth from one side of the tank to the other than hide again. Is this normal? Thanx in advance!
