I'm with you BB. I was going to respond to this yesterday but decided to wait to see what the general consensus was first. :-)
I used to work in a LFS and a very popular fish keeping trait is to over-exagerate the size of one's fish. We had a seemingly endless supply of 15" plecos or various cichlids which turned out to be closer to 6" when the customer actually brought them to the store. So what gives? I guess people in general are just bad at estimating the size of their fish and tend to suffer from fisherman's syndrome (you should have seen the one that got away...)
While I agree that the daily water changes and regular feeding would induce rapid growth you simply cannot turn a 15" max in the wild into a 2 foot aquarium monster! I think he either meant 23cm or has some kind of spacial awareness disorder. :-)
