Filters- HOT MAGNUM

Does any one have any experiance with this filter? I bought one and it wont work, when i turn on the filter all the water i put in the filter all drainsa out and very little water comes in threw the siphon. Did i just buy a defect or am I doing something wrong? I read the directions like a 100 times and tried every possible solution with no succes. I guess i will just have to exchange it.

I also got a Fluval 404 and I like it a lot. Its a little hard to get started and if you screw up it can spill a hells of a lot of water on the floor, but other than that its a great filter.
