Believe it or not the more hiding places you provide the more you will see your loaches. Mine took forever to get comfortable being out in the open when I was near the tank....now they eat out of my hands and seem to enjoy stareing at the TV (??????) You might also want to try a small school of small fish (dithers).....I was told that clown loaches will come out when they see the other fish schooling, they figure its safe..... They are great fish....probably my favorite!
