In Response To: In untested theory.... (Nick)

"Now if someone could rig up a system that would allow for a continous water change to be going on by means of dumping good water into your tank constantly and draining off the bad water..."

Asian discus breeders do indeed use a system just like this. So there is such a thing, but I think it would be a bear for the average hobbyist to set up - and think of your water bill!

As for the rest of it, I do prefer to watch my fish (discus, loaches, tetras) in groups (no fewer than 5 fish in a group). I just was happy for the information/theory because a while back I had a drastic size difference - though the fish were very healthy and all ate like pigs - and wondered what was going on. When I switched the fish around during a move, the smallest one put on size! Before everyone pours it on, I am acutely aware that this is really unscientific and that there are lots of factors. I just thought this was really interesting.
