You are probably thinking of clowns loaches. They are about the only loach (exept the red tail botia AKA: botia modesta) that not only grows long but grows wide and HAS to have a larger tank. Most other loaches that are long and skinny do not require such big spaces, though a 10 gallon may be a little small when they do get very big. Mabe the theory is just dofferent for different types of loaches?!?!?
