I pretty much agree with what Ron said. I have never heard of any of these guys to ever do this. They tend to suck on things (of course). The thinking behind this is interesting. People think that a pleco will be able to suck little pieces of the acrylic off the walls of the aquarium. They couldn't be digested, I don't think, so they build up and kill the fish. Never seen it happen, it sounds like there is some logic behind it, but... I don't think this is much of a problem. I understand that a piece of driftwood and a small pleco are normally good friends, so perhaps if one had driftwood and a pleco in an acrylic tank they would have even less to worry about.
