Heh, I'm with you Ron! I added two pieces of that wood to my tank last September and watched the water turn a lovely tea colour over the next couple of days. Weekly water changes for a couple of months soon stabilised it though and the water was crystal clear for a week until I decided another couple of pieces would look nice! Back to the drawing board or so they say. A further couple of months later and I'm now getting a gorgeous algal growth on the back and side glass now that the light can get through. I love the natural look and so do my fish! Like Doc. Mom said, to each his own :-)

I also had great algae in my other tank until I introduced two bristlenoses to eat the algae growing on the java fern. Those little buggers didn't touch the plants but over two nights completely cleared every square inch of glass. I was devastated! It took me 5 months to grow that algae and now the tank looks like it's just been set up... anybody want a bristlenose or two? :-)

Dave
