Are Kuhli's nocturnal or are just mine sick?

My Kuhli loaches seem to be not moving from the bottom of the tank. They are in groups but they just sit there like their sleeping or something. However, when the lights are out, they seem to move around. Also I try not to give too much food to my other fish so the food does not sink to the bottom and seems like my loaches are not getting food, what sould I do?
