Get Rid of Bio-Wheel and Carbon??

As you all probably know, I have a 29 gallon tank and 2- 7 inch tall rubin swords. Also, a 3 inch tall baby sword and another medium sized green plant. I have 35 watts of light and some light comming from a window (equivalent to about 15 watts more, and no, it is not direct and has not caused algae) I use DIY CO2 injection. I was reading that plants can do bio and chemical filtration. Right now, I have the HOT Magnum with a bio-wheel and and a penguin mini powerfilter for filtration. The magnum itself holds 8oz of carbon in the carbon container and the penguin mini has a small carbon/floss cartridge with only 1 oz of carbon. I was thinking that mabe I could take off the bio-wheel and put in the micron cartridge and run it all the time in the Magnum so it wou
