If you have a new setup, then you need to be espcially sure that you keep track of nitrites and ammonia and now that your tank is cycled, nitrates. It is best to keep loaches in odd numbers. If you have room for a third, I'd get one now. To keep them healthy, provide them with caves for hiding places, a varied diet, and warmer water--80-82 degrees. And, above all, keep good clean, healthy water.
