Kuhlis and filter flow rate

Do kuhlis prefer a high rate of water flow or a slow current in their environment - I ask because I don't really want to turn their current tank from the very slow flow bubble-up sponge filtration to a 9G (acceleration, not gallons) vortex tank Kuhli Wall-Of-Death, with fish, snails and plants pinned down to the sides of the tank by the water return. I have a spraybar which will help disperse the current through the tank ....
