Livening up the species discussion even further...

OK Dave, Martin, BB, Hans, and the rest of you. I have a new question, now that "modesta complex" is being discussed in general - what is the true natural color of Botia modesta? Not dyed fish (ugh!) but natural ones? I just got email from Thailand suggesting - but not knowing for sure - that even the blue ones are dyed, and that the natural color is a pale whitish-grayish color, if I recall correctly. I do see a pale colored B. modesta among the many pictures in the species index here.
I have a hard time believing my blue-gray modestas are dyed. The color changes too naturally from dark to light depending on fights, etc. Two of my apparent females are a beautiful sky-blue color that some people might think is artificial - except that they developed that lovely shade *after* I bought them, and after they grew a bit!
Could we have a subspecies thing going on with B. modesta, too?
Discuss away!
