One way I have found to keep the suction cups on the glass is to silicone them there. I've used G.E Door and Window Clear Silicone for years and never had a problem with it. Just clean the glass well with a razorblade (unless the tank is acrylic), then run a medium bead of silicone around the suction cups and press them to the glass. Allow 3 to 4 hours for it to harden to the touch before refilling the tank. After 24 to 48 hours the silicone will have cured enough to allow the heater, airline tubing, whatever to be mounted.
