Clown Loach disappeared... burrowing???

Hi, I have a 10 gallon tank with a Betta, 6 Zebra Danios, and two days ago I bought a Clown loach (I realize they are social fish, but I only had enough money for one when I bought him [broke college student], I had planned on getting more next week...) Well, anyway, I came home tonight to find that he was gone... there was no way he could have jumped out of the tank, and I have about 2 inches of normal gravel that you'd find at any old pet store. I read that other kinds of loaches sometimes burrow under the gravel, but does the Clown loach do this too? Cuz I've been watching the tank for a while now and I haven't seen him at all, and I'm pretty sure tha
