Thawing frozen food

When thawing frozen foods such as blood worm and brine-shrimp, does one take water from the aquaruim and thaw the food. What if you have more than one tank do you have to feed a min. of one cube per tank our do you thaw the food with water from one aquaruim and pour it into all your aquaruims.
