Thawing food? nah

can't be bothered. I buy the frozen food in 1 pound slabs. I break off a couple of big chunks, and about a minute later at room temperature it's soft enough that I can break it into smaller pieces and just toss them into the tanks. I've got 7 tanks to feed and about, maybe 2 minutes to get around the place before I rush off to work in the morning. So for me this is the most convenient method. There is one drawback. Cracking chunks off a frozen piece does result in more broken shrimp or bloodworms. However, smaller pieces are consumed by the baby fish.
I found that when I thawed food by putting it in a net and running water over it the 'smell' or whatever that attracts the fish to the food was lost. The fish didn't get the message until a lot of it hit the bottom.
When I toss in smaller chunks of frozen food, it floats long enough so the surface feeders get their share and then as it thaws in the tank, the rest of it slowly sinks so everyone gets their share. Eventually enough of it gets to the bottom for the corys and other bottom dwellers. No one seems to be suffering for it that's for sure.
