Clown out of Tank!!! WHY??

Hello all,

I came home one evening and found that one of four of my clowns jumped out of the tank along with a platy. I was suprised they managed thier way out of the small cutouts for the powerheads . I have a 55 gallon tank. I have had the little guy for a year , got him when he was an inch , he had grown to be 3 1/2 inches. I wish I got home sooner he might have made it . My question is what is the reason he jumped out.? i see no signs of sickness , the rest of the fish are ok Does this indicate a problem of some sort? .Any comments are appreciated , thanks
