In Response To: Clown out of Tank!!! WHY?? (Herm)

Herm, to say I understood why my fish do the things they do would be presumptuous at the very least. I recognize certain behaviors and draw associations but they still like to confuse ;) I do not believe that your 'clown' jumped tank because of water quality. I suppose it could be an attempt to get away from a bully or escape to greener pastures but imo loaches jump because they can. You do not have to go far on this forum to discover others who have shared similar experiences. From the 'kuhli' loach to clown. Some have found loaches in their filters or under gravel plates. Most loaches seem to enjoy swimming against a current, at least on ocassion, to some degree (botia included) so it may be that this is why yours left the water. Best imho to know it is a possibility and guard againt it. Nylon replacement screening is sold at most hardware stores. It is flexiable, easy to cut and form, will not rust ...and best of all loaches can not go through it. I hope something like this is available to you :) Probably easy enough to find something else that will do the trick. I think I remember bubble wrap being used also. Wanted to say sorry for the losses.

Just a thought

BB
