It just seems to me that aggression in aquarium fish is usually not very well understood. I think that pet stores should label fish more along the line of beginner fish to expert, instead of labeling fish as peaceful or aggressive.

I'm not familiar with Lorenz. I have a friend who is a vegan, and people always argue with her that people are naturally violent predators to prove that being vegetarian is wrong. They often give as an example wars and violence in society which I think has absolutely nothing to do with predatory instinct. Wars may have to do with "feeding territories", but I think it is absurd to just simply label human violence as an outlet for predatory instincts. I think that people tend to confuse territorial and social aggression with the idea of predatory carnivores way too often. Not that these are simple issues.

Loaches seem pretty complex and the stereotype of them being solitary shy fish that should be used as scavengers is way off. It is no easy task trying to figure out what is going on inside their loach heads!
