I would place the output by the power heads, and the input on the oposite side of the tank, by the the intake portion of the manifold. I have worked the numbers over in my head, and the amount of clear plastic piping suplied with the filter could easily reach from one side of the tank to the other(with the filter near the middle of the stand), and a little PVC tubing, or clear tubing could easily makeit to the required depth(probably just above the intake on the manifold). Your right on the 24. Each would want it's own rock, so about 8-12 would probably be better. I'm also still looking for another apropriate hill-stream fish for mid-top water other than the white-clouds(hopefuly I'll find the long-finned white-clouds).
