With Clowns or Kuhlis, the more the merrier, so to speak. They like the comfort of friends. Small Clowns and Kuhlis get along fine, but the reality is that the 10 gallon is pretty small, too small.

The real problem is the death of your guppies. If your tank system cannot support small fish like guppies, then adding more fish like Clown Loaches that grow larger than guppies would not be a good idea at all. I'm sorry, but there really is not not an easy answer to your problem, other than to get a bigger tank and/or learn more about the hobby. I don't think that anybody would recommend adding any Clown loaches to your present tank.
