Plants and Clowns

HEllo everyone, I hope this note finds you well. I presently keep five clowns in a 55 gal tank with tiger barbs and zebra danios. In thi tank there are also anacharis, valisnerias and cabomba plants. At least once a week I find a three inch piece of the cabomba stuck in my filter intake. Are these the loaches severing them? Plus they are mostly bare(the cabomba, not the clowns).
