Q about snails and loaches

Someone suggestes ya'll might be able to help me here....

I have a grwoing snail population that doesn't really bother me much now, but I could see it getting out of hand. I know people have mentioned loaches as snail eaters, but I was wondering - do they just eat the babies, or will they eat adults as well? See, I have a large mystery snail and medium Apple snail that I want to keep, but the babies of the other types that came in on my plants I'm not so attached to. If I introduced loaches, would my big snails become a snack too? And what would be a good variety to add to my docile / general community tank, if any?
